Charles Anthony Natalie of Milbank, age 90, who was born in Rochester, New York on January 1, 1928, died Sunday, September 9, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services for Charles Natalie will be Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, Milbank. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate, and Sheila Dailie will be the organist. Burial will take place at the Milbank City Cemetery.

His father, Charley Aloysius Natalie was of Italian heritage, and his mother, Marie (Bates) Natalie was of Irish heritage. Charles left Rochester when he was inducted into the US Army Air Corp on March 25, 1946. He served in a number of duty stations in the United States and did most of his service at Fort Richardson, in the Territory of Alaska, where among other duties, he flew in B-29’s as a photographer.

On August 21, 1947, Charles was discharged from service. While in Rapid City, SD, Charles met Beverly Jean Vik. Charles and Beverly moved back to Beverly’s home town of Aberdeen where they were married on November 27, 1948. Charles worked for Hardin Studios in Aberdeen for a number of years as a photographer.

Charles was hired by the First National Bank to sell insurance and was transferred to Milbank. In Milbank, Charles and Beverly settled down to raise their family.

Charles was hired by Dakota Granite Company to sell granite in a tri-state area of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. Charles worked for Dakota Granite for over 20 years and was one of their top salesmen.

Eventually Charles retired, and he and Beverly kept not only their place in Milbank, but also a winter residence in Harlingen, TX. This allowed Charles to pursue his hobby of golf year-round.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean. He is survived by his four children: Ceri (Frank) Daniels, Charles Alan (Kathy) Natalie, Clark Anthony (Wendy) Natalie, and Colleen (Jeffrey) Natalie-Lees. Charles is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
