It was a wild day on the courts on Thursday, September 20. MHS students donned western wear to cheer on the Milbank Volleyball Team when they hosted the Hamlin Chargers. But, the Lady Bulldogs were not there to horse around. They gunned down the Chargers in four sets at 25-17 for the first two, 20-25 for the third, and 25-18 to take the win for MHS.

Junior Jacey Engebretson led the Bulldogs with 19 kills, 18 assists, and four aces. Senior Gabbi Cummins followed in both categories with 15 kills and 18 assists. Senior Katie Wollschlager had 18 digs and fellow senior Anna Matthews had two solo and two assisted blocks.

Coach Nancy Hoeke commented, “Hamlin has a good record and a good team, but they seemed to struggle. We were in control during sets one and two. In set three, it was like someone flipped the light switch and Hamlin was in control and we couldn’t make anything happen. Then, in the fourth, we were back on track and sealed the win.”

The Junior Varsity team lost in two close sets. Both ended at 26-24 in favor of the Chargers.
