It takes more than a soggy day to stop the MHS Cross Country Team. On Monday, September 24, they boarded the bus and headed to Ortonville, ready to run – rain or shine.

Six Lady Bulldogs covered the muddy course in under 20 minutes. Five of them placed in the top 10: Danica Schulte (3rd) – 19:05, Maurina Street (5th) – 19:20, Amaya Street (6th) – 19:27, Taylor Thue (8th) – 19:43, Maiah Brown (9th) – 19:44, and Elisabeth Schwenn (11th) – 19:58. The team came back across the border with first place securely in hand.

Five runners on the boys’ team also placed in the top 20 with times of less than 18 minutes. Nick Batchelor (2nd) – 15:36, Zippy Bock (7th) – 16:12, Alex Farrell (12th) – 17:19, Nathan Loutsch (17th) – 17:57, and Ben Harstad (18th) – 17:58. The Bulldogs brought home second place.

Coach Eric Townsend said “Both teams made tremendous strides in improvements from the weeks before… The goal is to continue to improve and be our best at the meet in October.”

The Bulldogs hit the road this week to travel to the Sisseton Invitational on Thursday, September 27, and the Lennox Invitational on Friday, September 28.
