The Milbank eighth grade football squad shut out the Montevideo Thunder Hawks on Thursday, September 27 in Milbank. The final score was 44-0.
Milbank started the scoring early in the game. Justus Osborn intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a pick six touchdown. Sawyer Gauer made a three-yard run into the end zone for the extra point.
Next for the Bulldogs, Tyler Lee recovered a Montevideo fumble and Milbank quickly scored again. Quarterback Justus Osborn then hit Aiden Foell with a 23-yard touchdown pass and Gauer ran in the extra point to raise the score 16-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Foell recovered a second Thunderhawk fumble to allow Milbank another opportunity to add points to the board. Osborn obliged with a 15-yard end zone run to push the halftime score to 22-0.
The Bulldogs started the second half just as hot. Foell grabbed a 46-yard kick off return that ended in a Milbank touchdown.
Eli Johnson wanted in on the action and added a sack and fumble recovery to give possession back to the Bulldogs. Gauer got the ball and broke multiple tackles on a 53-yard touchdown run. The extra point, by Gauer again, would bump the score to 36-0.
The last touchdown of the day came on a 35-yard run by Osborn. Brayden Christensen ran in the extra point. The Bulldogs walked off the field with an easy 44-0 victory.
Eighth grade Bulldogs traveled to Aberdeen on October 1, to take on the Roncalli Cavaliers.
