A private family graveside service was held for Blaine Englund, age 55, of Milbank, who died October 1, 2018, at Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Time of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. John Hostettler officiating.

Blaine Verner Englund was born in Clear Lake, SD, on May 25, 1963, to Wilfred and Avis (Hanna) Englund. He lived in the Milbank and LaBolt area most of his life. He attended Milbank schools and worked hard to earn his GED.

In 1983, Blaine married Tammy Wagner; and they were later divorced. From this union they had one son, Zachary. Blaine traveled around with many of his numerous jobs. He worked for Peiker Grain Builders, FOK, and Hill Plumbing and Heating. Blaine enjoyed working for Brian Hill until he had a vehicle accident, causing him to be disabled and unable to work.

Blaine liked to stay busy and was a member of ABATE, involved with motorcycle safety awareness, and also served as President of the Whetstone Valley Chapter. He loved riding his Harley and visiting with people. Blaine frequently would be seen cruising around town in his wheelchair; frequenting Taco Johns, Food & Fuel, Bill’s Super Value, and the Pizza Ranch. Blaine would also be seen at the Wells Fargo parking lot where he would watch the town happenings.

Blaine appreciated all the care that the staff and caregivers of the Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center provided him on a daily basis.

Left cherishing Blaine’s memory is his son, Zachary Englund and grandson, Jackson of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Kent Englund of Milbank, SD; sisters: Lanna (Charles) Insinga of Sanger, CA; Renee (Bob) Thomas of Milbank, SD; Karla (Kevin) Colbert of Burbank, SD; Sharmell (Jeff) Kock of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Wilfred and Avis.
