The Bulldog Cross Country team wrapped up its season on November 5, with a potluck dinner and awards ceremony. Nick Batchelor was chosen as the Most Valuable Runner on the boys’ team. Danica Schulte and Maurina Street earned the same award for the girls’ team.

The Most Improved Runner awards went to Nathan Loutsch and Zippy Bock for the boys’ team and Madisen Frerichs for the girls’ team.
Kynlee Speidel was selected as Rookie of the Year for the girls and James Batchelor for the boys. Amaya Street captured the Pride of the Paws for the girls’ team and Alex Farrell won that award for the boys.

Senior Awards went to: Emmanuel Castro, Ben Harstad, Nathan Loutsch, Elisabeth Schwenn, Taylor Thue, and Justine Wiik. Varsity letter winners on the boys’ team were: James Batchelor, Nick Batchelor, Zippy Bock, Braden Brandriet, Alex Farrell, Ben Harstad, and Nathan Loutsch. Varsity letter winners on the girls’ team were: Maiah Brown, Allison Leddy, Ashlyn O’Farrell, Danica Schulte, Elisabeth Schwenn, Kynlee Speidel, Amaya Street, Maurina Street, Taylor Thue, and Justine Wiik.

Coach Eric Townsend said, “There are numerous individuals and groups who made the 2018 season very successful, many of which are too numerous to be individually thanked.  A huge thanks to the following groups and individuals:  Randy Patnoe and Pine Hills Golf Course for allowing us to host home meets, Pat DeFea and DeFea transportation for transporting to and from the meets safely, the Grant County Review and The Valley Express for their excellent press coverage of meet results, Jeff Carrino and KMSD radio for the Coach’s Corner radio broadcast, the Milbank Fire Department for leading the team bus out of town for the state meet, and Steve Hilbrands and Hardee’s for sponsoring the Milbank-Hardee’s Invitational.”
