The official holiday votes in Milbank have been counted. Secret judges have been roaming the business area to determine which storefront had the most festive display. The winner selected was Whimsy on Main owned by Sara Snaza and Amy Thue.

The Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 1,  signaled the start of the holiday season in Milbank. Al’s Body Shop floated down Main Street with Griswold- Uncle Eddie and drove away with the People’s Choice Award. Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative contributed the $200 Ol’ Mill Bucks prize to the lucky winner out of 20 entries.

Laurie Folk, Milbank Area Chamber Director said, “It was a great turn out!  I loved seeing how dedicated people were with decorating.”

Following the parade, everyone, including Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and  the 2019 Miss Milbank, Claire Mischel, met for a holiday gathering at Speedway. The apres- parade event was sponsored by the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce, Speedway, and Valley Queen. The free will donations given for the meal will in turn be donated to the Grant County Food Pantry.
