The State Oral Interp Festival was originally planned for November 30 and December 1, in Watertown. Due to the predicted weather, it was rescheduled for December 8 and 9, in Pierre.

The Milbank High School team earned a Team Excellence Award. The award is given to Class A teams who receive two or more superiors. The MHS team collected three.

The Reader’s Theater recorded perfect scores from all three judges, earning them a superior with distinction. The team was composed of Hope Osborn, Peyten Wiese, Landon Brown, and Lars Andersen. Caitlin Kroemer in Poetry and Hope Osborn and Lars Andersen in Duo also received superior ratings. Hope Osborn also competed in Serious, Peyten Wiese in Storytelling, Nathan Loutsch in Humor, and Kylee Mogan in Non-Original Oratory. The team is coached by Natasha Karels.
