Dorene Mueller

Dorene Mueller, age 99, of Wilmot, SD, died on April 29, 2019, at the Wilmot Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot, SD. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Caleb Schewe will officiate, and burial will be at Wilmot City Cemetery.

Dorene Margaret Trina (Rohlfs) Mueller was born on April 8, 1920, on the family farm by Corona, SD. She was the daughter of Jacob and Hattie (Tietjen) Rohlfs. She attended school through the eighth grade.

On February 24, 1938, she was united in marriage with Roy Mueller. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage and three children: Shirley, Gary, and Elaine. She had various jobs in the Wilmot area including 27 years in the Wilmot School lunch room.

Dorene was a part of the Senior Citizen Kitchen Band and an RSVP volunteer. She was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot and attended Bible Study weekly. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her roses, baking homemade bread, and canning many fruits and vegetables.

Dorene is survived by her son, Gary (LaVonne) Mueller of Milbank, SD; daughters: Shirley (Leon) Jurgens of Wilmot, SD; and Elaine (Roger) Huff of Aberdeen, SD; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brother, Harold Rohlfs; sister, Joan Moore; and two great-great-granddaughters.
