Leslie Athey, age 66, of Clinton, MN, died on June 17, 2019, after a 4-year battle with Wegener’s Granulomatosis.

Private services will be held by the family. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at the Clinton Memorial Building on June 29, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be served.

Les Athey was born in Oak Harbor, WA, on May 15, 1953, to Stanley and Marilyn (Duncan) Athey. He attended grade and middle school in Clinton, MN, and in Big Stone City, SD. Les graduated from Ortonville High School in 1971.

Les enjoyed sports and was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He played fast-pitch softball in the Big Stone Softball League for a number of years. He also liked to hunt, fish, and tinker with anything with an engine.

He had several jobs over the years, but really enjoyed working at his last job with Border States Cooperative in Clinton, MN, until his health forced him to retire.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Heather (Chris) Raffety of Milbank, SD; son, Toby Athey of Albany, MN; brother, Bob (Marcy) Athey of Big Stone City, SD; brother, Dale (Pam) Athey of Panama City, FL; and sister, Teresa Athey of Willmar, MN; grandchildren: Sylver, Morgan, Schyler, and Leyton; and great-grandchild, Liam.

Les was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; and son, Jesse.
