Cleo Mann

Cleo Marie (Anderson) Mann, age 87, of Milbank, SD, died on August 2, 2019, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home. Rev. Kent Groethe will officiate, and burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery. Musicians will be Brenda Johnson, pianist and Jacob Ebsen, vocalist. Urn bearers will be Cleo’s grandchildren: Travis Ingber, Jessica McIntosh, Brad Mann, Daniel Mann, Ashley Fliflet, Alex Mann, Aubree Mann, Noah Mann, and Marissa Webb. Honorary bearers will be the staff of St. William’s Care Center.

The daughter of Ralph and Leona (Warkentien) Anderson, Cleo was born on August 6, 1931, in Clark County, SD. Cleo graduated from Clark High School in 1949. On January 8, 1950, Cleo was united in marriage with Guy (Gene) Mann. They were blessed with four children.

For four years after their marriage, Gene and Cleo lived on a farm near Clark before moving to Watertown. In the mid 1950’s they moved to Milbank. She worked over the years at the telephone office in Milbank, at the Grant County Court House and in the dental office of Dr. Madsen and Dr. Fields transitioning to Dr. Johnson.

Cleo loved to play cards (especially bridge) and in her younger years loved golfing on the Ladies League and in couples’ tournaments with Gene. She loved shopping and visits to the casino. She served on the Altar Guild at her church for many years, was a Pink Lady for the Milbank Hospital and nursing homes and served on the local Hospice Board. First and foremost, Cleo was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She kept busy keeping track of all the events her kids, grandkids and great grandkids were involved in.

Cleo is survived by daughter, Janeen Ingber (Gary); sons: Randy (Peg); and Steven (Kim); and daughter-in-law, Sheryl Mann. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Travis Ingber (Cheryl), Jessica McIntosh (Greg), Brad Mann (Allison), Daniel Mann (Kim), Ashley Fliflet (Justin Riveland), Alex Mann, Aubree Mann, Noah Mann, and Marissa Webb (Derek); as well as twelve great-grandchildren. Cleo is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Darrell) Fjelland-Rosenau; brother-in-law, Gaylon (Connie) Bratland; sister-in-law, Nyla Anderson; brothers-in-law: Jim Mann, Jerry (Kathie) Mann, and many nieces and nephews.

Cleo was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 69 years, Gene; her son, Jeffrey; her parents: Ralph and Leona Anderson; her parents-in-law: Guy and Lola Mann; her brothers: Ken, LaVern, and John Anderson; and her sisters: Betty Paulson and Carolyn Bratland.
