John Forman Milbank City Administrator reports progress on the downtown streets continues despite Mother Nature. “The weather didn’t look promising for work on Main Street, but fortunately it stopped raining and work is moving forward. Water and sanitary sewer services are being repaired in the 200 block. Concrete removal is also taking place in the 200 block. Sidewalks are being placed in the 100 block along with some of the light pole footings.”

Forman says, “I appreciate everyone’s patience as I know construction out your front door is never an easy thing.” The weather this spring and summer interrupted the work and also had an impact on the contractor’s schedule. Forman says, “We will continue to facilitate things as best we can within the controls we have.” One issue arose due to concrete availability. Demand sometimes exceeds supply due to construction on the wind towers. Forman says, “Provided we don’t hit too many snags, I anticipate nearly all the sidewalks will be in place in the 100 block this week.”

Forman says, “If the contractor could get all that done, it would be a really good week. That would leave next week to start on the curb and gutter and underground work for the lights in the 200 block.”
