Helen Edna Olhoft was born on August 31, 1932, to Frank and Minnie (Jacobs) Olhoft in Wheaton, MN. She graduated from Traverse County Public School in 1946 and then continued her studies at the University of Minnesota West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN, where she graduated in 1949.

On November 25, 1961, she married George Goodhart at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN. After their marriage, they traveled around with George’s job. In 1968, they settled on a farm in the Wilmot area where they remained until George’s death in November of 2018.

Helen was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot. She was a loving mother who was always there for her children. Helen was a great cook and loved caring for her chickens, ducks, geese, and a huge garden. While George traveled for work, Helen managed the farm with her children. She was always concerned about how well the crops were growing. After George’s retirement, they enjoyed spending time and socializing at the casino.

Cherishing her memory are her children: George (Mary Jane) Goodhart of Corona, SD; Mike (Susan) Goodhart of Wilmot, SD; Sandie (Kurt) Westlund of Big Stone City, SD; eight grandchildren: Jennifer, George (Britni), Christina, Alex (Amanda), Rebekah, Aaron, Kurt, and Dylan; two great-grandchildren: Carter and Liam; sister, Margee (Lynn) Propp of Wheaton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Frank and Minnie; brother, Clifford Olhoft; and sister, Lois Breitbarth.
