MHS traveled to the Lac qui Parle – Dawson Boyd Invitational on September 17. According to Eric Townsend, head coach of the Bulldogs, the competition included some of the top teams and runners in the state of Minnesota. “The girls field included a top-four team along with two of the 10 ranked runners in Minnesota. The host team, LQPV-DB, is ranked number two in Class A in Minnesota.”

Milbank’s girls team placed fourth with 92 points. Murray City Central won the meet with 33 points. Canby/Minneota was second with 47 points, and Redwood Valley took third with 69. Also competing were
Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton with 103 points, and LQPV-DB with 153.

The Bulldog boys took third place with 98 points. LQPV/DB won the meet with 35 points. Redwood Valley was second with 88. Rounding out the teams were: Pipestone Area, 100; Canby/Minneota, 123; Montevideo, 148; Murray City Central, 170; Ortonville, 188; Yellow Medicine East, 213.

“This meet was our best of the season thus far for both teams,” Townsend said. “I felt our runners competed very hard and ran with some of the best from Minnesota.”

In addition to Batchelor, two other Bulldog runners placed in the top 20 in the boys 4K run. Zippy Bock took 16th place, and Brady Femling was right behind in 17th.

Three of Milbank’s seven girls also placed in the top 20. Tyra Berry placed 14th, Maurina Street finished in 17th, and Danica Schulte was 20th.
