The Lady Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 loss to Lac qui Parle Valley on Saturday, October 5, on the road. Milbank moves
to 7-10 for the season with the loss.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start in the first set and fell 17-25. “The LQPV passers pushed the ball quickly to their setter,” said head coach Nancy Hoeke. “We had a hard time with the speed of the game.”

In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs went ahead late at 23-21, but struggled with serve receive errors and fell 24-26. In the third set, Milbank fell behind early and could not overcome the deficit. They fell 12-25.

Jaecy Engebretson led the attack with 13 kills on 40-49 hitting, 5-7 serving, eight assists on 27-27 setting, and eight digs. Madi Thue chipped in with five kills on 15-21 hitting, 2-2 serving, and seven digs. Tracy Pillatzki tallied four kills on 9-11 hitting and 4-5 serving. Elsie Rogers was 13-15 hitting with two kills, and Amy Nelson had two kills on 6-8 hitting. Nelson also was 14-14 serving with two aces, had 11 assists on 49-51 setting, and eight digs. Hallie Schulte dropped in two aces on 9-9 serving and had 20 digs. Cassidy Christians was 22-24 setting with three assists, 8-8 serving, and 15 digs. Averie Engebretson was 19-19 setting with four assists and five digs. Siri Bien was 1-1 serving.

Milbank has two home matches this week. The Lady Bulldogs host Deubrook on Tuesday, October 8. Changes for that match include: the seventh grade team and the C team play at 5 p.m. on split courts; the eighth grade team and the junior varsity play at 6 p.m. on split courts; varsity follows on the main court. The Lady Bulldogs also host Redfield-Doland on Thursday, October 10.
