The MHS Oral Interp Team attended their first contest of the 2019 season on October 5 in Florence. Hailey Hupke competed in the Humor division and Landon Brown competed in Storytelling. Both received superior plus ratings – the highest possible awards. In the Serious division, Peyten Wiese and Mackenzie Michels earned superior ratings. Brown and Wiese also earned a superior in the Duet category. The Oral Interp coach is Natasha Karels and Tina Balling is the assistant coach.
On Monday, October 7, MHS hosted the Milbank Oral Interp Invitational. They welcomed 16 teams and 85 entries. Ratings earned by the Milbank students included:
Superior Plus: Landon Brown and Peyten Wiese (Duet).
Superior: Landon Brown, Yami Arano, Peyten Wiese, and Hailey Hupke (Reader’s Theater), Hailey Hupke (Humor), Jackson McFaden and Stewart Loehrer (Duet).
Excellent Plus: Heidi Meyer and Sydney Spanton (Duet), Stewart Loehrer (Humor), Joe Harstad (Humor)
Excellent: Mackenzie Michels (Serious).
