Paul Thiele, age 68, of rural Corona, passed away on October 9, 2019, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. A private family burial will take place at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Milbank.

Paul Aldred Thiele was born on January 12, 1951, in Milbank, SD, to Eldred and Darlyn (Steltz) Thiele. He was raised near Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School in 1969.

On August 11, 1984, Paul was united in marriage to Deborah Cloos in Milbank. Together, they lived on a farm near Corona and raised their children there.

Paul made his living by farming his land and raising animals. He also worked for Henrich & Sons (GCC Ready Mix) for 46 years. When he wasn’t farming or helping someone else do their farm chores, Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards or cribbage, bowling, and much-loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

He had the “gift of gab” and would visit with everyone and anyone (which is probably why a quick trip to town took all afternoon). Paul took the time to visit with someone who was having a hard time or a bad day and would make the extra effort to make them smile or laugh. He was a good jokester and never took anything in life too seriously: he would say, “Don’t worry about it. It will be ok.”

Paul leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Deb Thiele of Corona, SD; children: Misty Pharr of Benson, MN; Jeremy Frensko (Emily) of Watertown, SD; Paul Thiele, Jr. (Lacy Holte) of Big Stone City, SD; and Malinda Thiele (Justin Kohn) of LaBolt, SD; grandchildren: Elizabeth Pharr, Nicolas Pharr, Tabitha Pharr, Rachel Pharr, Caleb Pharr, Avery Van Overbeke, Asher Young, Kolt Thiele, and Annabeth Kohn; sisters: Lynda George of Paynesville, MN; and Mary (Jim) Korstjens of Milbank, SD; brother, Roger Thiele of Big Stone City, SD; sister-in-law, Debbie Thiele of Milbank, SD; and mother-in-law, Beverly Cloos of Big Stone City, SD; numerous nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darwin Thiele; brother-in-law, Scott George; and father-in-law, Eugene Cloos.
