Arlys Lambrechts passed away on October 19, 2019, at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, and burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Arlys Grace Lambrechts was born on August 5, 1937, in Ortonville, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman J. and Lydia M.I. (Frerichs) Schultz. Arlys attended rural school at Garfield #2 and graduated from Wilmot High School. She continued her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD and received her college degrees and teaching certificate.

Arlys was united in marriage with Duane H. Lambrechts on July 25, 1959, at St. Stephens Church in Wilmot, SD. They were blessed with 60 years and 3 months of marriage.

Arlys was a dedicated teacher. She began her elementary teaching career at rural schools – Spring Grove #1, Lockwood #2, and Alban #1. She taught for 35 years for the Milbank Public Schools as a full-time teacher, then was a substitute teacher for ten years.

Arlys was friendly and kind. She loved to visit and was never a stranger to anyone. She deeply cared about her family and friends.

Arlys was a faithful and charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Milbank. She enjoyed church activities with the choir and ladies’ aide. She was a member of Milbank Area Retired Teachers and held the office of treasurer for many years. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Arlys enjoyed music. She and Duane loved to travel and were proud to have traveled throughout the United States, including Alaska. Arlys also traveled to Hawaii and Europe with her daughter’s family. While in Europe she visited the homeplace of Arlys’s grandfather in Germany. She and Duane enjoyed wintering at their Texas residence for 18 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Duane of Milbank, SD; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and David Preller of Milbank, SD; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Becky Lambrechts of Milbank, SD; three grandchildren: Erik (Lisa) Lambrechts, Amanda Lambrechts, and Brittany Preller; one great-grandson, Odin Lambrechts; and many nieces and nephews. Arlys was preceded in death by her parents: Herman and Lydia; one brother, Norman Schultz; and one sister and brother-in-law: Adeline and Stanley Pew.
