Academic All-State Honors Given to MHS Athletes and Teams

All five fall athletic teams from Milbank High School received the All-State Academic Team Award from the South Dakota High School Activities Association following the 2019 fall sports season.

Teams from MHS awarded the honor and their grade-point average included :
Girls Cross Country – 3.81
Boys Cross Country – 3.40
Football – 3.20
Football Cheer – 3.76
Boys Golf – 3.30
Girls Tennis – 3.95
Volleyball – 3.91
Combined GPA for Fall 2019 (based on the fall quarter) – 3.62

The volleyball team also received the Academic All-State Team award from the South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association for their cumulative GPA of 3.82. Jaecy Engebretson, Amy Nelson, and Tracy Pillatzki were individually named to the Academic All-State Team. To receive this honor the athlete must be a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Alex Schuelke, JD Lusk, and Sam Seffrood from the Bulldog’s football team also received individual recognition for making the Academic all-State Team.
