The Lady Bulldogs gymnastics team took first place at the lone home meet of their season on December 21 at the Milbank Armory. Milbank topped the field with a team score of 129.85.

“This was our best showing this season and in front of our home crowd,” said head coach Amber Fraasch. “It was a great meet to have at this point in the season.”

Milbank started the day with season-high scores on the balance beam. Dani Yamaura and Laney Forrette each completed a no-fall routine, and Milbank was only penalized by two falls overall. Forrette received a personal best score of 7.90. “We were more confident in our routines, and our skills were connected and had more amplitude,” Coach Fraasch said.

Greta Snaza won the vault by tying her personal best score of 9.0. She also punched her ticket to the state meet by receiving her third state-qualifying score in that event. Also earning personal best scores were Maddie Gustafson, Laney Forrette, and Madison Mathews. Gustafson, Tori Hooth, and Yamaura received their first state-qualifying scores in the vault competition.

In the uneven parallel bars competition, Aubrey Fraasch earned a personal best score of 7.65. Laney Forrette received a personal best score of 30.60 in the all-around event.

The meet was also Senior and Parents’ Day. The team recognized its three seniors –Maddie Gustafson, Lindsey Hartman, and Tori Hooth.

Milbank placed third in the Britton-Hecla Invitational on Tuesday, December 17. As a team, they compiled 128.55 points. “Overall, this was a solid meet for us, and our team score continues to climb,” stated Fraasch.
