Have you heard the story about the princess who kisses the frog? How about the one in which the principal kisses the calf? That story came true on February 3 at St. Lawrence School in Milbank. Principal Brenda Anderson kissed a calf after she was declared the lucky winner of the student council penny war.

The money was given to Maggie Graf, the infant daughter of Jackson and Caitlyn Graf, who had been hospitalized in Sioux Falls since December.

Students were also offered the opportunity to donate one dollar to wear their pajamas to school, one dollar to wear a hat, or two dollars for both. Over $1200 was raised.

Four generations of women from Maggie’s family attended the event: Maggie and her older sister, Mona; her mother, Caitlyn Graf; her grandmother, Jean Graf; and her great-grandmother Loreen Hartman. Proud father, Jackson was also present for the event. Bill and Janine Fonder are the owners of the calf.
