Shirley (Mrs. Ron) Lundborg, age 74 of Milbank, passed away on February 25, 2020, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday at the church in Milbank. Burial will be at the Milbank Cemetery.

Shirley Mae (Scheef) Lundborg was born on January 20, 1946, to Joe and Violet (Ebsen) Scheef in Milbank, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. On June 7, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage with Ron Lundborg. Together, they lived in Minneapolis, MN, for a short time and then in Astoria, SD, where Ron taught, and Shirley worked as a secretary at the school. When they moved back to Milbank in 1973, Shirley ran a restaurant before working at Milbank Mutual for 27 years. She then spent another twelve years working as a secretary for Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Shirley was very active at Emanuel Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School and helping with various church activities. She and Ron enjoyed chaperoning many youth group trips. Shirley was an accomplished seamstress. She was known for making clothes, suits, altering prom dresses and crafting wedding dresses. Shirley also enjoyed reading, walking with her friends, and she loved spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ron; her sister-in-law, Ina (Larry) Hennings of Revillo, SD; nieces: Kristin Danielson of Mason City, IA; Stacy Hennings of Big Stone City, SD; nephews: Michael (Traci) Knight of Box Elder, SD; Garrett (Michelle) Hennings of Revillo, SD; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beverly Schaefer; brother-in law, Stan Schaefer; and nephews: Stanley Schaefer and Steven Schaefer.

Memorials are preferred to “It only takes a Spark”, Milbank, SD.
