Margie Anna (Marker) Stewart was born on April 30, 1932, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Don and Clara (Brandenburger) Marker. Margie was raised west of Milbank and attended rural school through the eighth grade. She continued her education in Milbank and graduated with the Milbank High School Class of 1950.

Margie was united in marriage in June of 1950 with Edgar Gustafson. They were blessed with a baby boy, Jaloy. On October 8, 1951, Edgar was killed in a quarry accident at Hunter Granite Company, leaving Margie a widow and young mother at the age of 19. She later was united in marriage with William “Bob” R. Stewart on December 1, 1952, in Webster, SD. They were blessed with two sons: Lonni and LaMoyne.

Margie was a devoted farm wife and mother. She also was employed at Mundwiler Furniture Store and later at Fleet Farm. She retired after many years of employment with Milbank Insurance.

Margie was a faithful member of American Lutheran Church in Milbank. She loved to visit and was never too busy to have a conversation! She enjoyed dancing, especially to polka music and The Old Time Fiddlers. Most important to Margie was her family; she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob passed away on August 21, 2014, after 60 years of marriage.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Jaloy (Candyce) Gustafson of Poulsbo, WA; Lonnie (Vicki) Stewart of Cottage Grove, MN; and LaMoyne (Denise) Stewart of Medord, MN; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren (plus two on the way); sister-in-law, Elsie Stewart of Sioux Falls, SD; and brother-in-law, DeLaine Owen of Watertown, SD.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; and both husbands.
