Marlin Hofer, 62, of Henderson, Nevada unexpectedly passed away March 20, 2020. Marlin was a 1976 graduate of MHS.

Marlin Scott Hofer was born June 1, 1957 to Eunice (Otto) and Boyd Hofer. Marlin’s father passed away when Marlin was a young boy, and he was raised in Milbank, South Dakota by his mother and Dale Jackson – the man who taught Marlin to grow up to be the good man he was.

Marlin graduated from Milbank High School in 1976 and lived in Watertown, South Dakota and Seattle before settling in Redfield, South Dakota. In Redfield, he met the love of his life, Shelly Eggers. Marlin and Shelly were married in 2006 and blended their seven adult children. The couple moved to Henderson, Nevada in 2011, where they lived until Marlin unexpectedly passed away. Heaven gained another angel while Marlin slept peacefully, and he will long be remembered for touching so many lives and making the world a better place.

Marlin enjoyed bowling, softball, and a variety of other sports. He especially loved baseball and the New York Yankees.

Those left to cherish wonderful memories of the man they adored are: his mother, Eunice Trygstad, Milbank, SD, wife, Shelly Hofer, Henderson, NV, sons Charles (Hang) Nguyen-Hofer, Blaine, MN, Chad (Amanda) Hofer, Sioux Falls, SD, Colt (Francene) Hofer, Canton, SD; daughters Lindsay (Tim) Clausen, Fulda, MN and Lacey Mack, Fulda, MN. His step-children Samantha Garrison, Redfield, SD and Charlie Holland, MN. Marlin’s siblings also mourn his loss: brothers Larry (Ling) Hofer, Germany, Lyle Hofer, Maple Valley, WA, Steve (Marlene) Hofer, Bothell, WA, Butch (Sue) Jackson, Milbank, SD, Richard Jackson, Stansbury Park, UT; sisters Judy (Tom) Hoeke, Sioux Falls, SD, and Linda (Mick) Redmond, Milbank, SD. Also missing their beloved Papa Marlin are his 18 amazing grandchildren.
