On Saturday, July 25, it was 90 degrees in the shade at the Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association Arena. A hot night for the horses, cattle, and especially the team of Blair Wittnebel, Craig Magedanz, and Monte Rosen. The trio took home first place in the team penning event and first place in the sorting event. “They were on fire Saturday night,” said Joanie Hills, organizer.
Second place in the team penning event again went to Blair Wittnebel. This time with the help of Calvin Thompson and Dave Hardy. Craig Magedanz, Marsha Wieting, and Chuck Schuchard finished in third.
Craig Magedanz, Casey Yamaura, and Teresa Mead wrangled second place in the sorting event.
But the WVRA season isn’t over, yet. Don’t miss the annual Ranch Rodeo on Saturday, August 8, at 6:30 p.m. Twelve teams have signed up and are ready to go head to head. “Come on out, enjoy some great food, and cheer on your favorite team,” says Hills.
