Dean Key Named 2023 Driver of the Year by Ruan

Dean Key of Millbank was named the 2023 Driver of the Year by Ruan Transportation Management Systems during the company’s annual event in Des Moines, Iowa, on September 30. Key drives for Do it Best via Ruan, one of the largest family-owned transportation management companies in the nation that was founded in 1932.

Key’s career as a professional driver has spanned 40 years, and he has worked with Ruan since 1996. A company spokesperson stated, “His industry knowledge and commitment to safety and professionalism have made him a respected leader among his peers. Throughout his career, Key has consistently demonstrated the highest standards both on and off the road. “

One of the letters nominating Key for the honor stated, “Dean’s dedication to the transportation industry is unmatched. His advocacy for Ruan and the industry exemplifies all that is great in trucking.” 

The search for Ruan’s 2023 Driver of the Year began in March, when 149 finalists were selected from the company’s 300 operators based on their safety performance, proficiency, and exceptional customer service. After an extensive evaluation process, the field was narrowed to 10 finalists, and ultimately Key was selected as the winner. Along with his title, he received a trophy and a $5,000 cash award.
