Milbank Collects 66 Season Bests at Flandreau Invite

The MHS track and field teams competed hard in the Flandreau Invitational on April 26. According to head coach Eric Townsend, between the two teams, they returned home with 66 season bests. They also took many of the top places at the meet and added new names to the school athletic honor roll. Mason Allen set a new MHS record in the Javelin competition.
Highlights for the Boys:
The Bulldog Relay team, made up of Bryan Meyer, Harley Zemlicka, Graham Lightfield, and Emmett Hanson took first place. The 3200-Meter Relay team composed of Meyer, Beckham Berry, Jeter Scoular, and Liam Heller brought home second place. The 800-Meter Relay team collected third-place honors. That team was made up of Garrett Weber, Zemlicka, Lightfield, and Hanson.
Individually, Meyer was second in the 400-Meter Dash. Heller was third in the 1600-Meter Run. Scoular was third in the 3200-Meter Run. Weber was fourth in the 200-Meter Dash. Hanson took first place in the 300-Meter Hurdles and third in the 110-Meter Hurdles. Lawson Novy came in third place in the Shot. Ethan Seyer took fifth in the Long Jump. Mason Allen was third in the Javelin to claim a new school record with his throw of 125’ 7”. Jeryn Bormann took sixth place at the meet and landed in No. 4 on the MHS All-Time Honor Roll at 114’ 8”. Kaleb Lindstrom moved into the No. 6 spot in the Javelin on the All-Time Honor Roll with his toss of 105’ 7”. Liam Street took over the No. 9 spot with a throw of 103’ 1”.

Highlights for the Girls:
The 3200-Meter Relay team of Zayda Townsend, Macy Mueller, Bianca Berry, and Ella Koplin captured first place. The 400-Meter Relay team composed of Jacy Dexter, Violet Johnson, Bree Townsend, and Siera Wenzl notched second place. The Bulldog Relay team made up of Koplin, Z. Townsend, Adison Pauli, and B. Townsend took third.
Individually, Koplin was first in the 400-Meter Dash. She moved into eighth place on the all-time Lady Bulldog honor roll. Wenzl was second at the meet, and Z. Townsend took third. Macy Mueller took fourth in the 300-Meter Hurdles. Johnson landed in second in the Long Jump; Anna Neugebauer was sixth. Johnson was fourth in the Triple Jump; Neugebauer was fifth. Haylen Schneck took sixth in the High Jump. Neugebauer took first in the Shot. B. Townsend was third. Katie Kruger took sixth. Neugebauer was second in the Discus; Kruger came in fifth. Dexter was first in the Pole Vault competition. Rylee Scoular took fifth, and Timbree Spors was sixth. B. Townsend threw the Javelin 79’ 8” to take fifth at the meet and move into the No. 2 spot on the MHS All-Time Varsity Honor Roll.
