MHS Singers to Perform With South Dakota Honor Choir 

Camryn Sovell, Yanderyn Olivares, Macy Mueller, Sam Shelstad, and Preston Laskowske, students of MHS Choir Director Miriam Schwenn, will perform with the 51st South Dakota High School Honor Choir in Aberdeen on Friday, July 25. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Northern State University.

NSU is serving as the host site for the July 20-25 rehearsals and associated activities. Chris Maunu, conductor, educator, and composer based in Portland, Oregon, will serve as this year’s guest director.

All junior and sophomore high school chorus members in South Dakota were invited to a live audition. Selections were based on a prepared solo, tonal memory, sight-singing ability, and a written test covering musical terminology.
