Milbank FFA members Isaak Weston, Kalli Moser, Cody Wiik, Kayla Schweer, Ashlynn Lamp, and Megan Wiese attended the annual leadership retreat put on by the South Dakota FFA Association at Storm Mountain Christian Camp in Rapid City from July 22-25. Sara Colombe and Hannah Schrader, the Milbank chapter’s co-advisers, accompanied the students and participated in workshops designed for educators.

Megan Wiese received the Advisor Tribute FFA Retreat Scholarship sponsored by Jason and Ashley Frerichs.
The retreat used the movie Toy Story to help teach the principle of investing in a chapter’s journey, to instill the ideals of the FFA motto, and to encourage career success with agricultural education. Workshops were created to help members discover the value of service, integrity, communication, perseverance, teamwork, and the development of a growth mindset. Attendees also pitched in during a service learning project at Central States Fairgrounds by helping to clean and prepare the grounds for upcoming events. FFA advisers attended teaching sessions to explore plant pollinators and propagation, how to implement bees into their programs, and livestock artificial insemination.
