Ben Hogan said, “The most important shot in golf is the next one,” and the Bulldogs golf team is already focused on getting better during the 2025 season. Mark Keeton, head coach at MHS, said, “We are a very young team. We lost four starters from last year. Many of our players are seeing courses for the first time, but the boys are positive and working really hard.”  Keeton noted the team plans to cut their number of strokes by concentrating  on course management and their short game.

Milbank traveled to Meadow Creek Golf Course in Volga for the Sioux Valley Invitational on August 18. “This might be our toughest meet of the year due to the number of teams involved and the difficulty of the course,” Keeton remarked.

Roncalli collected the win at 306, and Madison came in second at 328. The Sioux Valley Blue scored 331 for third. Milbank finished at 422. “I enjoyed the positivity of these boys and their work ethic,” Keeton added. “There are many areas we can improve, and we are trying to get better each and every week.”

Finn Anderson of Roncalli won the match. He shot even par. Jonathan DoBoer earned the highest place for MIlbank. He came in 12th by carding an 83 at 11 over par..Bulldog Seth VanHoorn shot a 100 for 46th place. Jerynn Bormann was 61st at 118. Pierce Mathiason took 64th at 121. Jesus Padilla came in 67th at 125. Thomas Bass was just behind him in 68th at 130.

DeBoer, a senior, is entering his sixth and final year as a Bulldog. “Jonathan put in a ton of time this summer and it’s going to be fun watching him one last season,” stated Keeton. DeBoer recently signed a letter of intent to play for Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
