Larry Hennings, age 83, of Revillo, SD, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his home.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD. Larry Fred Hennings was born in Milbank, SD, on September 9, 1942, to Fred and Dorothy (Peiker) Hennings. He attended country school from first grade to eighth grade then attended high school in Revillo. He graduated from Revillo High School with the Class of 1960.

Devoted his life to the family farm, Larry cultivated not only crops but also lasting memories. He was a life-long farmer, known for his tireless work ethic and deep connection to the land. Larry’s passion extended beyond farming; he enjoyed playing cards, particularly Pinochle, and was an avid pool player. He also liked to hunt pheasants and deer. In his youth, he showcased his sportsmanship on the basketball court, remembered for his “sharp elbows.”

In addition to his agricultural pursuits, Larry cherished his various trips where he enjoyed both recreation and relaxation. He was a dedicated fan of sports, particularly when it came to watching golf and football on TV—his allegiance firmly with the Chicago Bears. Larry also had a love for playing Scrabble and enjoyed classic horror movies, often entertaining family and friends with his extensive tastes.

On January 28, 1978, Larry was united in marriage with Ina Lundborg and together, they were blessed with three children.

His greatest joy came from his family, particularly his grandchildren, for whom he would go to great lengths. Larry made infamous cinnamon rolls, often with a grandchild by his side, creating both confectionery delights and cherished bonds with his family. He adored driving his Ranger around the fields, keeping a watchful eye on the land he loved so much.

A man of simplicity and warmth, Larry was known for his easygoing nature—often opting to forgo shoes and buttoning his shirt yet always embodying patience, care, and a friendly demeanor.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife of 47 years, Ina; daughter, Stacy Hennings of Big Stone City, SD; sons: Michael (Traci) Knight of Box Elder, SD; and Garrett (Michelle) Hennings of Revillo, SD; grandchildren: Amanda Wollschlager (Nicholas Rush), Kelly Wollschlager (Clint Homan), Ashley (Jake) Schmidt, Telisha Knight, Sandy (Scott) Carpenter, Zaida Knight, Harley Hennings, and Huxley Hennings; great-grandson, William Schmidt; sisters: Norma Ahartz, and Marlys (Vince) Swenson; nieces: Debbie (Rick) Nelson, Connie (Guy) Pledger, Cindy (Terry) Jensik, Gina Kannas, Renee (Brian) Schake, and Val Swenson; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Baby Z; brother-in-law, Jack Ahartz; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Shirley Lundborg; and niece, Sandra Kvam.
