The Bulldog golfers traveled to Watertown for a multi-team match on Tuesday, September 23. Jonathan DeBoer was the top-finishing golfer for Milbank at 19th place. He carded a  78 at six over. Charlie Swift was the medalist. He scored a 69 at three under. Swift, who plays for Harrisburg,  won the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA) junior state championship in the boys 16-18 division this past July. As a team, Harrisburg was also first. Mitchell was second. Watertown was third. Milbank came in 13th.

Individually for Milbank, Jesus Padilla finished 65th with a score of 92.

Thomas Bass was 76th with 98 strokes.

Pierce Mathiason was 79th,

Seth VanHoorn was 80th. Both golfers carded 103.

Mark Keeton, head coach for Milbank, applauded Padilla for his perseverance.  Padilla is in his first year starting for the Bulldogs, but Keeton reported he has been improving all year. Padilla’s development was highlighted in Watertown, when he carded a 92 to beat his personal best by 16 strokes. “His 92 is very impressive when you know he has only been playing with a set of left-handed clubs for a year,” Keeton added.

At the Sisseton Invitational on Thursday, September 25, Bulldog Jonathan DeBoer blew past the other golfers to win first place at 75 – just three strokes over. His closest competitor was Groton’s Jarrett Erdmann at 79. Jace Johnson, also golfing for Groton, took third at 80. Sisseton’s Luke Neilsen came in fourth at 84.

Playing for Milbank, Thomas Bass took 18th place at 105.
