The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs varsity cross country teams competed in South  Dakota’s state championships in Huron on Saturday, October 25. MHS head coach Eric Townsend said, “We wanted to be our best in October and, for the most part, most of the runners were peaking to finish out their season.”

Townsend said, “Individually for the boys, Jeter (Scoular) ran pretty well earning a top 25-medal with a 14th-place finish. Beckham (Berry) also ran well, running 42 seconds faster than he had on the same course in September.” The Milbank boys finished in 122th place.

The Milbank girls also picked up the pace at the state meet. “Ella (Koplin)  was 54 seconds faster than she was on the Huron course in September and just missed a top-25 medal with her 32nd-place finish,” Townsend noted. “Other time improvements on the same course from last month included Macy (Mueller) by 24 seconds, Haylen (Schneck) by 56 seconds, and Paola (Culhuac Segundo) by one minute and 20 seconds.  Haylen, Paola, and Tabitha (McFaden) 2025 also ran their personal fastest 5K,” Townsend added. The Milbank girls brought home 14th place.
