Lady Bulldogs Stun Ortonville to Stay Undefeated

The Lady Bulldogs hosted their rival from just across the border, the Lady Trojans of Ortonville on Tuesday, December 15. It wasn’t even a horse race. The Trojans stumbled coming out of the starting gate, fell behind 25-3 by the end of the first quarter, and never recovered. Milbank ran circles around them until the final buzzer sounded and the score sat at 68-9. The win puts Milbank on a three-game winning streak with an undefeated season record of 3-0.

Belle Pauli put up 18 points and two assists for MIlbank. Avery Schuneman made 16 points, along with one assist.  Adison Pauli scored nine points and recorded two assists. Susie Schuneman and Anna Neugebauer each put up seven points. Violet Johnson and Bailee Hendricks each made three points. Zayda Townsend hit two free throws. Lorn Harstad made a field goal. Lydia Gall hit one from the stripe.

 A. Schuneman made eight steals. S. Schuneman and A. Pauli each had three. Johnson made two. Hendricks, B. Townsend, and Gall each had one. A. Schuneman led Milbank with five assists. S. Schuneman contributed two assists. Ella Koplin, Z. Townsend and Lauren Lester had one assist apiece. 

Bree Townsend set the pace for the Lady Bulldogs with four rebounds. A. Pauli, B. Pauli, A. Schuneman and Neugebauer added three boards apiece. S. Schuneman  Johnson and Baillee Hendricks each had two. 

The Lady Bulldogs made 56 percent of their shots from the floor, including nearly 30 percent from beyond the arc. They made an even 50 percent from the line.

Rylie Conroy and Sarah Neu led the Lady Trojans scoring. Alyssa Arndt, Destiny  Warner, and Taylor Larson led the defense with three rebounds apiece. Ortonville downed four of their eight shots from the line to match Milbank at 50 percent.

Due to inclement weather, the Basketball Games at Willow Lake have been rescheduled for tomorrow – Friday, December 19.
