Milbank Excel at Only Home Meet of the Season

The Milbank Lady Bulldogs hosted their only home meet of the season on Saturday, December 20. They finished fourth with 127.75 points.
The varsity started out on vault with three of six personal best scores. Tenley started with a personal best and her first varsity vault debut with an 8.1 for 27th place. Nuria was right behind with an 8.05 for 28th place. Jada Leigh had an 8.25 for 26th place. Aria performed a personal best with an 8.35 for 23rd place. Raina tied for 11th with an 8.55 and Macyn performed a handspring full for a personal best of 9.05 tying for third place.
On the Bars, Tenley made another first varsity debut and scored a 5.75 for the team to take 24th place. Timbree connected her long hang kips to fly away to score 6.35 for 22nd place. Jada Leigh scored a 6.95 for 19th, and Macyn had a 7.2 for 16th place. Nuria had a personal best with a clean routine. She scored 7.5 to take 10th. After a fall during warm-ups, Aria came back with a no-stop clean routine to score 7.55 and take ninth place.
Macyn was the only one with a no-fall Beam routine. Aria had a 6.25 for 26th, Marley, 6.55 for 25th, Tenley, 6.65 for 23rd, Nuria, 6.85 for 22nd. Raina scored 7.7 to take 14th, and Macyn’s no- fall routine scored 7.95 to tie for ninth place.
Finishing strong in their strongest event, the Floor Exercise, Milbank took four of six places in the top 10. Aria finished at 8.45 for 16th, Nuria, 8.6 for 15th, Marley and Raina tied for 10th at 8.75. Marley performed a personal best routine. Jada Leigh also had a personal best routine. She scored 8.8 for eighth place. Macyn led the team with an 8.9. She tied for fourth place.
In the All-Around, Aria had a 30.6 for 16th place. Nuria was right ahead of her with a 31.0 and a new personal best. Macyn took seventh place at 33.1
Next up? The team goes to Sisseton on January 3.
JV Gymnastics
The Milbank JV gymnastics team competed in their home meet on Saturday, December 20. The team scored 101.9 points for a first place finish ahead of Britton-Hecla with a score of 98.4 and Sisseton with a score of 94.2.
Kinleigh Brandenburger started the team off on the vault. She scored a personal best of 7.6 for eighth place. Elise Graham had a personal best of 6.9. Isabelle Karels scored a personal best of 7.5 for ninth place. Elise Graham had a personal best of 6.9. Khloe had a personal best of 7.75 for a sixth- place finish. Marley Pinkert completed a 1/4 to 3/4 for the team and scored 8.0 for a third- place finish. Abigail Benike scored a PR of 8.05 and placed second.
Kinleigh and Elise both scored 4.0 on the bars. Isabelle has been working on her half twist dismount off of the high bar. It paid off with a personal best of 4.6 for eighth place. Khloe had a personal best of 5.2 for fifth place. Abigail scored 5.8 and placed fourth. Marley scored a 6.05 to win the uneven bars.
Arie Prisinger competed in her first JV meet of the season on the Beam. She scored a 3.75 with a no-fall routine. Elise scored 4.9. Kinleigh added a full turn to her routine and scored 4.75. Isabelle had a couple of falls using her new skills, but she still had a nice routine and scored 5.0 for 10th place. Abigail scored 5.35 for ninth place. Khloe had a great no-fall routine and scored 6.0 for fourth place.
The team finished the meet on the Floor.Isabelle and Kinleigh both scored 6.15. Khloe scored 6.5 for 10th place. Elise presented two front punch passes and one round off back handspring pass. She had some excellent tumbling and dance for a personal best of 6.85 for seventh place. Abigail added some height to her tumbling and scored 7.1 for fourth place. Tenley Bohn scored 7.15 for third place.
In the All-Around competition, Kinleigh scored 22.5 for ninth place. Elise scored 22.65 for a personal best (8th), and Isabelle scored 23.25 (6th). Khloe took third place with a score of 25.45. Abigail took second place with a score of 26.3.
The next JV meet is Saturday, January 3, in Sisseton.
Milbank Middle School
The Milbank Middle School hosted a home meet on Friday, December 19, with gymnasts from Britton and Sisseton. Judges for the meet were current high school gymnasts and Milbank alumni gymnasts. The 7th grade team had four competitors and took 1st place in the team competition with a score of 103.45. Team members were Ariana Prisinger, Kinleigh Brandenburger, Isabelle Karels, and Khloe Barnett. The 8th grade had three competitors. The gymnasts competing were Abigail Benike, Tenley Bohn, and Elise Graham. Since four scores are used for a team score, they did not participate in the team competition.
Ariana made her gymnastics debut. She did a squat on the vault and a front limber off and scored 5.5. Kinleigh scored 8.0 for 3rd place with her ½ handspring. Isabelle scored 8.1 on her half handspring vault, good for a 2nd place finish. Khloe also did a half handspring and scored 8.4 for 1st place. Tenley scored 8.5 with a 1/2-1/2 vault. She received first place honors in the 8th grade division. Abigail tied for 4th place with her handspring vault and a score of 8.3. Elise received 8th place with a score of 7.1 on her handspring vault.
Ariana scored 2.0 on her first uneven bar routine. She tied for 10th place. The girls added a glide kip to their routine. Kinleigh scored 4.3. Isabelle Karels scored 5.5 and placed 3rd place. Khloe Barnett also added a fly away to her routine and scored 5.75, winning the 7th grade event. Tenley has recently added a low bar glide kip and a high bar long hang kip to her routine. She scored 8.5 and received 1st place in the 8th grade division. Abigail and Elise also had low bar glide kips in their routine. Abigail scored 6.8 for 3rd place and Elise scored 6.55 for 4th place.
Isabelle added a cartwheel and an aerial dismount to her beam routine. She scored 7.0 for 5th place. Ariana scored 5.4 with only one fall on her routine. Kinleigh finished in 6th place with a score of 6.9. Khloe has been perfecting her tumbling series and jumps and scored 7.9. She received 1st place on the beam for 7th grade. Tenley received 1st place for the 8th grade with a score of 8.75. Abigail received 2nd place on beam (7.6) and Elise received 7th place (6.65).
The team finished the meet on the floor exercise. Ariana did a great job on her first floor routine and scored 5.95 and tied for 10th place. Isabelle and Kinleigh have both been working on upgrading their tumbling with a front handspring pass. Kinleigh scored 6.95 for 5th place and Isabelle scored 7.8 for 4th place. Khloe received a score of 8.0 and a 2nd place finish for the 7th grade. Tenley received 1st place for the 8th grade with a score of 8.6. Abigail received 2nd place on floor (8.5) and Elise received 6th place on floor (7.6).
In the all-around division, Khloe took first place honors with a score of 30.05. Isabelle tied for 2nd place with a score of 28.4. Kinleigh was in 5th place with a score of 26.15 and Ariana was in 10th place with a score of 18.85. In the 8th grade division, Tenley took first with a score of 34.35, Abigail 3rd place with a score of 31.2, and Elise 6th place with a score of 27.9.
The next middle school meet is in Sisseton on Monday, January 5th.
