The Lady Bulldogs racked up their fifth win of the season in a home game against Britton-Hecla on January 6.  Britton-Hecla was coming off a win two days earlier over Tri-State. In that game, Britton-Hecla had grabbed 50 rebounds to work their way to a 54-33 victory. But the Lady Bulldogs gave them no chance for an encore. Milbank dominated offensively and defensively to overpower the Lady Braves and roll to a 58-12 win.

Other than at 1-0, the closest the Lady Braves came to Milbank was when  the score sat at 10-7. The Lady Bulldogs continued to stay ahead and established a 10-point lead at 17-7 in the second quarter. After that, Milbank was a runaway train. At the half, the scoreboard read 29-9. The Lady Bulldogs’ lead stretched to 43-9 after a shutout in the third quarter and before it settled at 58-12 at the end of the game.

Milbank made shots from all over the floor, including six 3-pointers – two each from Susie Schuneman and Adison Pauli and one apiece from Avery Schuneman and Bailee Hendricks. A. Schuneman finished with a game-high 14 points. Anna Neugebauer posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds – six offensive and six defensive boards. Belle Pauli scored 10 points. S. Schuneman scored eight points. A. Pauli had six. Bree Townsend made five points. Hendricks had three. As a team, Milbank recorded 11 assists. A. Schuneman set the pace at six. Neugebauer made two. A. Pauli, S. Schuneman, and Hendricks added one assist each.

Following Neugebauer, A. Pauli was next with five rebounds. A. Schuneman and Townsend each got four.  B. Pauli nabbed three rebounds. S. Schuneman and Hendricks got two apiece. Kylynn Schwandt made one. Overall, Milbank secured 38 rebounds. Brotton-Hecla came down with 29.

The Lady Bulldogs took advantage of Lady Braves’ butterfingers and stole the ball 20 times.  S. Schuneman cleaned up with seven steals. A. Schuneman had five.  A. Pauli managed  two steals.  B. Pauli, Neugebauer, Violet Johnson, Hendricks,Townsend, and Lorn Harstad each got one steal.

Milbank hit 40 percent of their shots from the floor. They made 23 percent from beyond the arc. They also collected eight of 14 from the line for 53 percent.

The Lady Braves were led by Chellon Pruitt who put up five points and 11 rebounds. Pruitt also secured a steal. Karlie Zuehlke recorded three points and five rebounds. Maddie Micko made three points and four rebounds. Koryn Jones scored a point and added two rebounds. Ella Schuster added two rebounds and a steal. Paityn Erickson made an assist and a steal. Tiana Tank contributed a rebound.

What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs welcome Tiospa Zina on Tuesday, January 13. The Lady Wambdi enter the game with a 4-4 record so far this season. Milbank sits at 5-1.
