The Milbank varsity and junior varsity gymnastics teams competed in a triangular in “The Barn” near Hendricks, Minnesota, on Monday, January 12. Estelline-Hendricks won the meet by compiling 143.3 points. Sioux Falls O’Gorman took second with 132.75 points. The Lady Bulldogs were close behind with 131.75 points.

The varsity Lady Bulldogs started the day on the Bars. Macyn Dunihoo led MIlbank  with a 7.9 and fifth-place honors. Nuria Rodriguez Duron took seventh place at 7.55.. Raina Untalan attempted her kip for the first time in competition. She scored 7.15 for eighth place. Timbree Spors also scored 7.15 to tie with her teammate Raina.  Marley Pinkert scored 7.1 to earn 10th place. Jada Leigh Wellnitz received a 6.95 for 11th place.

On the Beam, Raina presented a no-fall routine to score 8.15 for sixth place.

 Marley kept the no-fall streak going. Her score of 7.95 was good for eighth place. Timbree followed with a no-fall routine to score 7.75. She claimed 10th place. Nuria performed a solid no-fall routine to score 7.65 for 12th place. Jada Leigh scored 7.25 to take 13th place. Macyn scored 6.6 for 17th place.  

The Lady Bulldogs as a team received their highest Floor score of the season at 36.15. Macyn tied her personal best at 9.6 and took third place at the meet. Raina scored 8.95 for sixth place.  Jada Leigh and Nuria tied at  8.8 to share seventh place. Marley scored 8.55 to take 11th place. Timbree competed in the  Floor Exercise for the first time this season. She scored 7.9 for 17th place, 

On the Vault, Macyn led the team with her score of 9.0. She took third place. Raina scored a personal best 8.85 and earned her third state pre-qualifying vault score. She placed fourth at the meet. Jada Leigh scored 8.3 for 10th place. Marley scored an 8.2 for 12th place. Nuria performed her handspring one-half to score 8.15 and take 13th place. Timbree competed on the vault for the first time after coming back from an ankle injury. She scored 7.8 to take 14th place.  

In the All-Around competition, Raina and  Macyn tied at 33.1 to share fourth place. Nuria compiled 32.15 points for seventh place. Marley claimed ninth place with 31.8 points. Jada Leigh took 10th place at 31.3. Timbree finished with 30.9 points and in 12th place. Both Jada Leigh and Timbree recorded personal best days,

What’s next? Varsity gymnasts head to Madison on Saturday, January 17. Ten teams are expected to join the competition.

JV Meet – Hendricks – January 12
On Monday, January 12, the Milbank JV gymnastics team traveled with the varsity to Hendricks, Minnesota. The JV Lady Bulldogs won the meet with their score of 113.65 points. Estelline-Hendricks finished second with 105.points. Sioux Falls O’Gorman was third at 87.45. 

Milbank’s Tenley Bohn scored 6.95 to win first place. Abigail Benike finished at 6.8 to take  second place. Isabelle Karels recorded  a personal best of 6.65 for third place. Kinleigh Brandenburger performed a personal best of 5.55 to take seventh place. Khloe Barnett scored 5.2 for ninth place.Elise Graham  scored 4.75 for 10th place. 

In the Floor Exercise, Tenley won the Floor exercise with her score of 7.85. Abigail finished with a 7.65 to collect third place. Elise accrued a personal best of 7.6 to take fourth place. Khloe was right behind with a 7.5 to take fifth place. Isabelle etched a personal best of 7.05 for eighth place. Kinleigh scored  6.55 for 10th place. 

Coach Michele Benike said, “The JV squad had a wonderful vault day! Tenley won the Vault competition with her score of  8.4. Khloe scored  7.9 for third. Abigail scored 7.8 for sixth. Isabelle scored  7.75 to take seventh. Elise recorded 7.7 for ninth place, and Kinleigh scored 7.65 for 11th place. 

Finishing on the Bars, Tenley won the Bars competition with a personal best score of 8.4. Khloe scored 6.3 for third. Abigail scored 5.9, for fourth. Isabelle scored 5.45 for fifth. Elise scored 4.35 for seventh. Kinleigh scored 4.15 to secure eighth place. 

Tenley also won the All-Around competition with her score of  30.8.  Abigail was the runner up at 28.1. Khloe tied for fourth place with teammate Isabelle. Both scored 26.9,

Elise took seventh place at 24.4, Kinleigh finished tied for eighth place  at 23.9, .

What’s next? The JV Bulldogs will compete in their last meet this season at Madison on Friday, January 16

Middle School Meet – Britton – January 12 
Milbank Middle School gymnasts Ariana Prisinger and Alesana Olson competed in Britton on  Monday, January 12. Sisseton also participated in the meet.  

Ari and Alesana started the meet in the Floor Exercise. Both scored 5.0. In the Vault competition, Alesana presented a handspring vault and tied her personal best score at 7.7  Ariana also recorded a personal best score of 7.7 by completing her handspring vault. Ariana placed fifth in the seventh- grade division.

Ariana added a glide kip to her Uneven Bars routine and scored 3.55 to claim another personal best score. She took eighth place in the seventh-grade division. Alesana scored 2.8.

The Milbank gymnasts finished their meet on the Balance Beam.  Micheele Benike, head coach for the middle school girls, commented, “Alesana had just one fall on the beam, and she has been working on sticking her round-off dismount.  Ari started working on a handstand on the beam a week ago and  added this to her routine without a spot.  She had a no fall routine and earned another personal best score of 7.1.  She also tied for fifth place (at the meet).”

In the All-Around competition, Alesana accrued  20.9 points. Ariana added another personal best score of 23.35.  “Both girls started gymnastics just a couple of months ago and have made amazing progress,” Coach Benike noted. “Ariana will be joining the junior varsity team in Madison on Friday, January 16, for the last invitational of the season.”
