The Lady Bulldogs start post-season competition at Regions in Britton this Thursday, February 5. The action begins at 5 p.m. Two Milbank gymnasts have pre-qualified for the state meet. Macyn Dunnihoo has punched her ticket in the Vault and Floor events. Raina Untalan is set to go in Vault, Beam, and  Floor.

Winding down their regular season, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Clear Lake on Saturday, January 31, for an invitational that also included  Britton-Hecla, Chamberlain, Deuel, Estelline-Hendricks, Kimball-White Lake, Sisseton, and  Wagner-Bon Homme. Milbank took fourth place with 131.85 points.  Estelline-Hendricks won the meet with 140 points. Chamberlain was second at 132.65. Sisseton was third at 132.45.Macyn led the Milbank girls with her fifth-place finish in the Floor competition.

The Lady Bulldogs began the meet on the Balance Beam. Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for Milbank Area, said, “Although we counted three falls, the girls’ jump connections improved along with their presentation of confidence with their skills.” Aria Prasnicki scored 7.75 for 25th place. Macyn scored 7.8 for 24th. Raina put up an 8.2 for 21st. Marley Piinkert marked a personal best score of 8.35 to tie for 19th place. Nuria Rodriguez Duron also recorded a personal best score of 8.4 to capture 18th place.

“On the Floor, the team showed off their tumbling and dance to stay consistent with their scores,” stated Wollschlager. Macyn took fifth place at  9.0. Raina scored 8.7 for 13th place. Nuria scored 8.1 for 23rd.  Aria scored 8.2 to tie for 20th place. Jada Leigh Wellnitz scored 8.45 to take 14th place. Raina put up an 8.6 for 11th place. 

In the Vault competition, Jada Leigh and Aria each scored 8.5 to tie for 17th place. Nuria received an 8.2 to tie for 24th. 

Regarding the Bars competition, Wollschlager commented, “The girls have been working on cleaning up their execution and keeping everything smooth and connected.” Macyn scored 7.7 to tie for sixth place. Nuria scored 7.55 to take 12th.  Aria  and Timbree Spors each posted  7.4 to tie for 16th. Jada Leigh scored 7.35 to take  20th place.

In the All-Around; Macyn scored 33.6 to earn eighth place. Nuria scored 32.25 for 15th place. Aria landed in 16th place at 31.85.
