MHS Senior Caitlyn Frerichs won the regional competition in the Ceramics division of the 2026 Art Wars held at Northern State University in Aberdeen on Friday, February 27. Frerichs advances to the state level and will travel to Aberdeen on April 11 to compete at the state level and participate in the student gallery showcase.
In the regional competition, each student chose two categories from drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and digital. The artists were given a prompt by the judges and were required to create a piece from start to finish in an hour and a half. In the ceramics event, Frerichs was given the prompt: “Is it clay?”
