Bulldogs Bitten by the Tigers

The Bulldogs basketball team hosted Groton on Thursday, January 23. Milbank had a tiger by the tail when they struggled from the floor, and Groton built up an early lead. Groton continued to score, but the Bulldogs were only able to produce five points in the third quarter, and Groton stretched their lead to 21. Although Milbank went on the attack for a late push in the fourth, the damage was done. The Tigers claimed the victory 58-43.

Milbank’s Lincoln Holscher contributed 12 points and chased down six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Bryan Meyer made 10 points and three boards. Sam Rick chipped in eight points and four rebounds. Graham Lightfield followed with seven points and five rebounds. Ryan Keeton added three points and five rebounds. Emmett Hanson made a bucket, two boards, and a block. Jeter Scoular had three rebounds and four assists. Jack Howard dunked a free throw.

The Tigers were paced by Ryder Johnson, who put up 19 points and controlled the boards with seven rebounds. Gage Sippel added 13 points and five rebounds. Keegan Tracy recorded 10 points and two rebounds. Becker Bosma scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds. Karson Zak made six points. Jayden Schwan made one.

Milbank finished the game at nearly 33 percent from the field and just under 30 percent from beyond the arc. Groton shot 41 percent overall, including 35 percent from long range. The Bulldogs made 17 turnovers. Groton committed seven .The Tigers pulled off 11 steals and Milbank poached the ball five times. MIlbank hit six of eight from the stripe for 75 percent. Groton matched them at 12 of 16, also for 75 percent.
