Varsity – Wheaton/Herman-Norcross
The varsity Lady Bulldogs volleyball team, under the direction of Coach Nancy Hoeke, traveled to Wheaton for a non-conference matchup on Monday, September 8. Milbank took the loss 3-0 with set scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-17.
Belle Pauli, Bree Townsend, and Jacy Dexter each served up an ace. Milbank recorded 16 kills. B. Pauli had seven. Kenzie Kooima made four, Avery Schuneman notched three, and Townsend had two. Schuneman also led the team with seven assists. B. Pauli had five. Adison Pauli, Dexter, and Evy Liebe each made one.
At libero, Dexter posted a team-high 12 digs. Schuneman had seven. A. Pauli had six. B. Pauli and Liebe each had five. Townsend and Kalli Grong put up four apiece. Townsend contributed one assisted block, and Bailey Koepke added one more.
JV– Clark-Willow Lake
The JV Lady Bulldogs volleyball team traveled to Clark-Willow Lake on Thursday, September 4. Milbank took the loss 2-0. Set scores were 25-16 and 25-20.
Lydia Gall and Bailee Hendricks led the team in service. Gall went three of three with one ace and Hendricks was two of two with one ace. Bree Townsend and Bailey Koepke each led with four kills.
Susie Schuneman and Violet Johnson set the pace in setting. Schuneman was 30 of 31 with six assists. Johnson went 20 of 21 with four assists. Avigail Howard and Zora Henrich made five digs apiece.
8th Grade-– Clark – Willow Lake
Coach Becky Johnson quote of the match: “The girls played well. For many of the girls, this was their first match of the season.”
The eighth grade Lady Bulldogs lost a close 2-0 match against Clark-Willow Lake on the road on September 4. Set scores were 25-19 and 25-23. Milbank put up seven aces, five kills, and three assists.
Riley Brown led the way. She made five of six serves with two aces. Alanna Vogel made two of four serves with two aces and an assist. Joselyn Owen went three of six serving with one ace. She also added two kills. Kendra Grong was nine of 11 serving with one ace. She also contributed two assists. Jenna Pederson hit three of four serves and recorded one ace. Sophia Bass made three of five serves and added an assist and two kills. Alyssa Henderson was one of two serving. She also made a kill. Ana McKilip and Marley Pinkert both finished zero of two in serving.
Seventh Grade— Clark – Willow Lake
Coach Jenna Schulte quote of the match : “We played the third game –15-6– just for fun.
The Milbank seventh grade girls volleyball team traveled to Clark on September 4. The match ended at 3-0 with the Lady Bulldogs taking the loss. The scores of the first two sets were 25-17, and the last one –played just for fun – ended 15-6. The Milbank girls recorded a total of eight aces.
Isabella Karels went eight of eight serving with three aces. Brytten Schmieg was seven of nine serving with one ace. She also contributed a kill. Whitney Wehy was six of eight serving with two aces. Hannah Kirchberg made five of six serves with one ace. Leeah Schwandt went three of four serving with one ace.
