Senior golfer Jonathan DeBoer and junior Thomas Bass each forged a story of success at the 2025 South Dakota Class A Golf Tournament. “Jonathan struggled on Day One and was sitting in 30th place (82), but he came roaring back with one of the best scores on Day Two. An even par 72 skyrocketed him up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for ninth,” explained  Bulldog Coach Mark Keeton.

“It was Jonathan’s third straight year being in the top 10 and his fourth time placing at State. To go along with this, in his career, he was a two-time NEC champ and  two-time Region 1A champ. He made the All-Tournament Team one time,” noted Keeton. This past August, DeBoer signed a letter of intent to play the 2026 season for the Raiders of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Bass represented the Bulldogs at the state tournament by scoring an 89 in the first round and a 94 in the second. His total earned a tie for 60th place. “Thomas was 10 strokes better than his season average at Regions and State,” Keeton said. “ He really came on at the end of the year, and I look forward to seeing him progress next year.”

Hayden Heig of St. Thomas More was the state champion. He scored 138 at six under par. Matt DeBeer of Dakota Valley took second place at 145.
