Varsity Bulldog Jeter Scoular crossed the finish line nearly 20 seconds before his nearest competitor to take the NEC cross country title on October 9 in Webster. The Milbank boys as a team were also in hot pursuit of the crown, but were edged out by Deuel by just one point. The Milbank girls team also pushed hard and created  a close race. They finished third. Clark-Willow Lake and Roncalli were first and second, respectively. The Bulldogs placed five runners in the top 15. The Lady Bulldogs had six in the top 20. All 11 returned home with medals. Kamryn Nesheim of Clark-Willow Lake won the girls title.

In the JV 3K competition. Bulldog Jefferson Ordonez won the individual title  for Milbank. In the JV girls race, Ainsley Brown of MIlbank was crowned the winner. Nuria Rodriguez Duron took second place.

Coach Eric Toownsend said, “The JV teams ran well, placing quite a number of individuals in the top 20 to earn awards.  Both varsity teams are in a position to be one of the top three teams in the Region and should be competing for the Region 1A team titles.“ 

What’s next?  The Bulldog cross country  teams travel to the Region 1A meet in Webster on Wednesday, October 15. The competition gets rolling at 11 am.  The top three teams and the top 20 individuals qualify for State. The 2025 Class A State Cross Country Championships will be held in Huron on October 25.
