Lady Bulldogs Score Highest Vault Score of Season at Deuel

The Milbank Area gymnasts braved cold temperatures on Saturday, January 23. The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Clear Lake for a quadrangular against Deuel, Sisseton, and Britton-Hecla. Deuel won the event with 138.0 points. Britton-Hecla took second place at 133.25. Sisseton was just behind in third place at 133.0. Milbank was also close behind with 132.70 points for fourth place.
The Lady Bulldogs started with the Floor Exercise competition. Macyn Dunnihoo scored 9.4 to take second place. Raina Untalan etched a personal best score at 9.3 to bring home fourth. Jada Leigh Wellnitz scored 8.7 for 11th place. Nuria Rodriguez Duron scored 8.4 to tie for 14th place. Tenley Bohn scored 7.3 for 16th place. Aria Prasnicki scored 8.15. She tied for 19th.
Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for the Lady Bulldogs, said, “With 35.0 points, (Milbank) reached their highest team score of the season on the vault. Nuria tried a one-fourth-three-fourths for the first time in competition and scored 7.7 for 23rd place.”
Macyn scored 9.05 to tie for fifth place. Raina forged a personal best 8.9 to tie for eighth place. Aria stuck her landing to score 8.75 and record a new personal best. She tied for 13th place. Jada Leigh scored 8.3 for 20th. Tenley scored 8.0 for 22nd place.
On the Bars, Macyn scored 7.95 for sixth place. Aria scored 7.45 to tie for 12th. Nuria and Timbree each scored 7.15 to tie for 15th place. Tenley scored 7.05 for 17th. Jada Leigh scored 6.65 to secure 20th.
Milbank ended the meet on the Beam, and they counted only two falls. Raina finished with an 8.8 to win second. Aria scored 8.25 for fifth place.
Wollschlager said “Aria had a lot of nice saves showing her determination to fight and stay on the beam.”
Macyn scored 7.8 for 12th place Tenley scored 7.35 for 16th. Nuria scored 7.15 for 18th place.Timbree scored 6.6 for 21st place.
In the All-Around competition, Macyn scored 34.2 points to earn 5th place. Aria scored 32.6 points to tie for 10th. Nuria scored 30.4 for 13th place. Tenley made her varsity debut in the all-around. She scored 29.7 and finished 15th.
What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs head back to Clear Lake for the Deuel Invitational on Saturday, January 31. Regions are also coming up. They will be held in Britton on February 5.
