Gerald Huberty

Gerald Huberty, 86, of Graceville, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his home in Graceville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Fr. Shawn Polman will celebrate the Mass, and interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud, MN. 

Gerald Theodore Huberty was born at home on a farm in Watkins, MN, on December 19, 1939, to Leo and Mathilda (Schreifels) Huberty as the fourth of seven children. After high school, he joined the Army Reserves.

In 1963, he met Bernadette Zurr, and they were married in Gilman, MN, on June 16, 1964. They had one daughter, Michele.

In his lifetime, Gerald had a chemical license for crop and weed management and sold feed, seed, and fertilizer at co-ops in central Minnesota. He was an award-winning butter maker for Land O’Lakes. He also held a boiler license and maintained the boilers at the co-ops where he was the manager. His last job before he retired was as a boiler operator at an ethanol plant in central Minnesota.

After his retirement, he lost his sight and hearing, so Gerald and Bernadette were invited to live with their daughter, Michele, and her family, where they currently reside.

Gerald is survived by his wife Bernadette; his daughter, Michele (Jay) Backer; five grandchildren and their spouses/fiancés; and three great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents: Leo and Mathilda; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Luke and Sophie Zurr; his brother-in-law, Raymond Zurr; his brothers: Alcuin and Ralph; his sister-in-law, Annie; his niece, Lois Jean; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Linn.
