
The Lady Bulldogs softball team glided to a decisive 15-2 home victory over the Lady Tigers of Groton Area on Tuesday, May 12. Milbank celebrated Senior Night by recognizing pitcher Ashlynn Lamp, Allie Meyer (2B), and Elyssa Tomac (RF).
Milbank wasted no time taking control. They erupted for five runs in the opening inning and added four more in the second. Groton fought back with two runs in the second, but their rally was short-lived. Milbank poured on the pressure in the third to add three more ticks and repeated that performance in the fourth to invoke the 10-run rule and end the game early.
The Bulldogs showcased their offensive prowess by collecting nine hits. They also drew 10 walks. Paisley Ericsson led the attack by going 2-for-2 with a triple, a home run, three RBIs, and four runs scored. She punctuated the list with two stolen bases.
Payton Lamp added a double and two RBIs. Kennedi Sayler finished with two hits and two RBIs. Bella Hicks and Macy Mueller each drove in two runs. Lauren Lester doubled. She also scored three times for the Lady Bulldogs.
Meyer contributed a hit, scored twice, and walked two times for Milbank. Courtesy runner Heyden Montag also posted a run.
In the circle, A. Lamp went the distance to earn the win. She allowed just two hits and two unearned runs. She struck out six. A. Lamp faced 69 batters and piled up 50 strikes. Nancy Hoeke serves as the head coach for Milbank.
Neely Althoff took the loss for Groton. The Lady Tigers managed two runs off two hits – one each by Makenna Krause and Jerica Locke.
