Arnold Anderson

Arnold Anderson, 94, of Graceville, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Grace Home in Graceville, MN.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery near Graceville, MN.

Arnold Norin Anderson was born on November 17, 1931, at his family home in Big Stone County, MN, to Theodore and Sophie (Swenson) Anderson. He attended country school through the eighth grade before graduating from Graceville High School in Graceville, MN, with the Class of 1949. Following his education, Arnold devoted his life to farming on the family farm. He worked until his retirement, seeding and harvesting 76 crops over the years.

On June 28, 1953, Arnold was united in marriage with Sue Ann Gravatt at Graceville Congregational Church. Together, they were blessed with daughter, Elaine.

Arnold was deeply involved in his community throughout his life. He was a member of the Graceville Golf Club for 64 years and enjoyed memberships at the Watertown Country Club and the Ortonville Golf Club for over 30 years. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN, he served on the church council for six years. He also served six years on the Graceville High School Board.

In 1976, Arnold founded Magic Mile Travel in Watertown, SD, which he owned and operated until 1994, later expanding with a branch office in Ortonville, MN. In addition, he served Big Stone County as Deputy Registrar for 21 years.

Arnold is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Heidi Pilot) Anderson of Graceville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Theodore and Sophie Anderson; his beloved wife, Sue Ann Anderson; his sister, Marcella Kohls; and his brother, Laurence Anderson.
