Bormann and Mathiason Score Season Bests

Milbank varsity golfers traveled to the Redfield Invitational on Tuesday, September 15. 

“The boys and I welcomed the cooler temperatures this week,” said Bulldog head coach Mark Keeton.  “Jeryn Bormann carded his season low this week with an 88, and (it was) another solid week of keeping the team score in the threes.” 

Groton’s Jace Johnson was the medalist. He shot a 75 at 5 over. Bormann’s 88 at 18 over earned 15th place for Milbank.

Thomas Bass took 23rd place with his score of 95. 

Seth Van Hoorn was 27th at 98.

Pierce Mathiason shot a 105 for 33rd place. The score marked a season low for Mathiason, a junior, who is in his second year on the varsity squad.

Jaxson Bear hit a 107 to bring home 34th place.

“Scores have been dropping all year, and we have a full schedule this week before heading into regions,”  Keeton noted.

“It was nice to get the JV team out on the road this week,” Keeton said. “The more meets we can get them, the better they will be prepared when it is their time to step up to the varsity level.

Tea Area won first place at 64 over par at 349. Milbank took 10th place at 492. Paxton Anima was the top golfer. He shot an 83 at 12 over. Kellen Ault of Tea Area and Landon Engbers of Sioux Falls Christian each also carded 83.
