The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs rolled to a dominating 3-0 victory over the Ortonville Trojans Tuesday, October 6, and improved its season record to 10-8.
Milbank Area controlled each set and the entire match over a struggling Trojan team. The Lady Bulldogs won the three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-18.
Caryssa Mielitz led the locals offensive attack with 10 kills on 30-33 hitting, three aces on 10-13 serving, eight digs and one block. Katie Cannedy followed with five kills on 14-17 hitting, three aces on 14-14 serving and five digs while Molly Rick added five kills on 10-13 hitting, four aces on 11-13 serving, three digs and one block. Rachelle Gabriel tallied four kills on 9-11 hitting and had one solo block in the contest.
Mikaela Hoeke, Mackayla Schuelke and Madi Schulte also racked up big numbers on the night. Hoeke went 49-49 setting with 17 assists, 8-8 serving with one ace, 11-14 hitting with one kill and nine digs while Schuelke was 12-12 setting with three assists, 11-11 serving with three aces and eight digs. Schulte led the team defensively with 10 digs and went 7-8 serving with one ace in the contest. Also adding to the Lady Bulldog statistics were Tori Brandenburger, Alexis Folk and MyKayla Thyne with three digs each.
Junior Varsity – Milbank Area suffered a close 2-0 loss to Ortonville in junior varsity volleyball. The Lady Bulldogs fell by scores of 25-23 and 25-22.
