The MHS boys golf team took third place at the Northeast Conference golf tournament in Redfield on August 24. The Dawgs wrapped up the event with a team score of 370.

“The boys are improving each week,” stated Head Coach Mark Keeton. “We had four individuals place in the top 15, which is always nice. We are still trying to stay away from that big number or two that can really hurt the card. Out of the four that placed, if you were to let them replay a hole or two, they would have all been in the eighties. This is a very promising sign.”

Senior Gage Sayler led the Dawgs with a 18-hole round of 91. He placed 10th overall by shooting a 45 on the front nine and a 46 on the back. Senior Adam Thomas followed with a final score of 92 (47-45) to place 11th. Junior Conner Vanvooren tallied a 93 (45-48) for 12th place. Senior Noah Pillatzki placed 14th with a 94 (48-46), and senior Chase Pinkert carded a 104 (54-50).

Sisseton was crowned the NEC champion. They scored 307. Aberdeen Roncalli was the runner-up at 314. Redfield-Doland scored a 411 for fourth place. Groton Area did not field a complete team.
